The Beehive Nursery

The Beehive Nursery welcomes children from two years old into a self-contained unit which provides a safe and happy environment in which to play and learn.  We are open from 8.30am –  6pm and parents can choose whether to attend half day or full day sessions.  We run a Holiday Club out of term time.

As a registered provider, all our three year olds are entitled to the Government Grant.  We also accept Tax Relief Vouchers which can be organised through some employers.

  • The facilities of Tower House School:  gymnasium, tennis courts, gardens and home economics room, mini-bus.

At the Beehive Nursery we aim to give your child the best possible start in life by reflecting the rich and personalised experience that many parents give their children at home.  We are committed to providing excellent care and education and are justly proud of our reputation as a warm and friendly school.

The Early Years Foundation Stage

We recognise that all children are unique and that they develop and learn in different ways. Our key person system ensures that your child is given the opportunity to form a warm relationship with a practitioner, who will be sensitive and responsive to their needs, feelings and interests. By providing stimulating resources and rich learning opportunities across all seven areas of learning and development, all children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, are supported in reaching their full potential.

We organise planned and purposeful play and a mix of adult-led and child initiated activities covering:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical Development
  • Communication and Language
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design

These take place in the classrooms, in ‘The Honey Pot’ (outdoor classroom) and in ‘The Burrow’ (outdoor natural area). We also aim to go out into our local environment to access all the wonderful learning opportunities on offer and are delighted to receive visitors into school.

Parents. Carers

We realise that working closely with you is vital for recognising and identifying children’s needs. We aim to involve you in your child’s learning as much as possible, from finding out information from you about your child and their abilities, to helping you support your child’s learning at home. We invite you to bring contributions from home for their learning diary, which will help us develop a more rounded picture of your child.

If your child needs additional help and support, we are there to make sure they receive the interventions they need. We offer support in behaviour management and will always be available to talk about any worries or concerns you may have. Parents are invited into the classrooms to help with topics, to the Christmas play and Sports Day, to the Summer Fete and other fun activities. On a more formal note, parents are invited in to a ‘Welcome Meeting’, for a taster session, and for parent/teacher interviews. Our regular questionnaires will give you the opportunity to tell us what you think about us!

The staff at Beehive are trained in and practise Thrive. This is a process which helps support a child’s emotional development and behaviour. Please do ask us more about this when you visit.

News Flash

We are now using our new natural play area. The children regularly put on their wellies and go down to ‘The Burrow’ for activities which relate to all areas of the curriculum. We would like to say a big ‘Thank You’ to the parents who helped with fundraising in July, which has enabled us to order some all-in-one waterproof suits, which the children can wear to protect their clothes.

Holiday Club

The Buzz Club caters for children from 2 years and under 8 years old every holiday.  Children who do not attend the Nursery are also welcome.  Please ring the Nursery for enrolment forms and details.

And Finally:

You can only get a real feel for the nursery by visiting us. Please bring your child to meet the staff, see our lovely facilities and find out more about us. Ring for an appointment on 01803 551203.
